Realmove cost Ronaldo £3milllion | World Soccer

Ronaldo’s move from Internazionale to Real Madrid cost him at least £3 million, according to the Itallian club’s president Massimo Moratti.

‘In economic terms Inter came out of the whole deal very well because Ronaldo had to pay $5 million (£3 million) out of his own pocket in order to compensate us for lost sponsorship money,’ said Moratti.

Despite the windfall brought by Ronaldo’s sale, Moratti admitted that he was unhappy with the manner of the Brazilian’s £30 million move to Spain.

‘Inter did what they had to do, but we were the victims and it was Ronaldo who came out of it looking bad,’ he said.

‘Ronaldo played a great World Cup and finished as a winner, but Inter won nothing last season. That makes it difficult to forget what he did,’ Moratti added.

Moratti also confirmed that Inter were still undecided as to whether to take either Steve McManaman or Santiago Solari as part-payment for the Brazilian. According to the terms of the deal, Inter are entitled to sign either of the pair or receive £6.5 million in cash.

‘At the moment it is 50-50,’ said Moratti.

‘We can either ask for the money or for the player, who will be either Solari or McManaman, but (coach) Hector Cuper will make the final decision.’
